Jerusalem Post CEO Ronit Hasin-Hochman presents Innovation Award to TAU President Joseph Klafter

The Jerusalem Post Award for Driving Innovation was presented to TAU President Prof. Joseph Klafter during the Jerusalem Post Annual Conference in New York City this spring. The award was presented by Jerusalem Post CEO Ronit Hasin-Hochman in the presence of Yaakov Katz, Jerusalem Post Editor-in-Chief, and Richard Sincere, National Chairman of American Friends of Tel Aviv University. The University was cited for its work spearheading groundbreaking research in a variety of fields.

In his acceptance speech at the ceremony, Prof. Klafter stressed how TAU research mirrors every important topic discussed at the conference, ranging from defense and health to the arts. “For example, at any given moment, TAU performs some 300 game-changing R&D projects with the Defense Ministry and other security agencies in the fields of tunnel research, cyber, advanced sensors and facial recognition,”  he said.

Prof. Klafter also noted the recent launch of a major Translational Medicine Initiative that will jumpstart drug trials at the TAU-affiliated hospitals and strengthen Israel’s contribution to developing life-saving drugs.

The Jerusalem Post Annual Conference brings together senior Israeli officials, newsmakers and opinion-shapers, who discuss issues and challenges facing Israel and the Jewish world today.
